Here's your chance
to take part in the development of a military shooter. This little studio is trying to raise the funding to create a new game but they are going about it in a different sort of way, by getting pledges from us. I've already made a pledge and look forward to taking part in the development and creation of a game, where I know my input is being listened to. For the record I originally bought the PS2 to play the SOCOM these guys created.
If you're interested, head here http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1687497632/h-hour-worlds-elite-0 read up on it and make a pledge if you can.

I remember that SOCOM, 2nd or 3rd mission was impossible because the marker pointed in the wrong direction so you kept freezing to death.
Also alot of everything use Kickstarter, not long ago there was a project for Wasteland II which raised 2,933,252!

9 days to go to reach the $200,000 mark and now it looks like it might happen. They only need $48,000 and have raised close to $100,000 in the last week.
Re: Here's your chance
5 days left to go and the goal has been reached. Be looking for this game in about 2 years for PC and PS4.

Re: Here's your chance
I just received the email. I'm officially a sponsor and they made their second goal of $250,000 to really get things rolling. Sooo since I seem to be one of roughly 1000 who have access to the developers forum, I will be asking for input from all of you regarding what you might want to see in a military shooter so I can pass it along. So ponder that for a few days and once they get it all set up I'll see what I can do to get a game we can all enjoy.
Re: Here's your chance
Now that the ball is rolling, though the developer forums haven't opened up yet. Here's the link to the public forum that shows how things are looking so far.

Re: Here's your chance
Sort of, I still think it will be 3rd person but then the original SOCOM was the only 3rd person shooter that seemed to feel right. That's kind of hard to explain but generally it worked because I could see what was going on around me and react better than I can with 1st person.
Re: Here's your chance
I got an update on the game/fundraising progress. I cut out most of it but here's the interesting bits.
"The demo is proceeding well. Russ is building the first level and sent me a batch of stand-in buildings to approve. The level layout definitely has a classic SOCOM feel to it. When we’re a little farther along I’ll put together a major blog update with photo reference, the layout, and some images from the engine—maybe early video—from the level. At the same time, the animations are starting to come together with the game characters, and that’s exciting too.
Our plans for features/mechanics implementation are pretty straight forward at this point. On one side, the ballistics model/weapons simulation side of things is critical and we have a full time programmer for that. The other early critical path tasks are controls, camera, and setting up all the hooks for having the character/game talk to the ballistics code correctly and our lead programmer is going to focus mostly on those aspects until they’re done. The brilliant thing about all this is that once the first pass of all these tasks are done, it will essentially be the core of the game leaving us sufficient time to polish and add features (such as the grenade arc, for example).
Probably the next time I update I will have actual “stuff” to show so keep checking back here for announcements."

They are setting up the private forums in a few days, and as per standard game development process, I'll have to sign a Non Disclosure Agreement to participate. I suppose what this means is that I can add any of your suggestions as to what you'd like to see but I can't post up any information that I get.
So basically, let me know what you want, I'll pass it along, but I can't tell you how the ideas are used. This should be interesting. It is nice to see the Master Gunny + under my name on the public forums now.

Re: Here's your chance
They've gotten the private forums set up. I "signed" my NDA earlier today and yes we are talking with the developers and artists directly. I've gotten a look at some screen shots of early stuff and have to say it looks better in the rough stages than some "finished" games.
Now today's topics besides saying hello seem to be mainly around clan integration and in game music. Anyone have any thoughts they want me to throw out there?
Again I can't tell you what happens with them but I'm more than happy to pass things along.

Here's something I can pass along. This is a work in progress screen shot from the Alpha stage of development.
Re: Here's your chance
Things are moving along nicely despite a member breaking the NDA and posting some video that wasn't for the public to see. Needless to say they have lost all their commitment to the game and are facing legal action.
On the bright side I just received my first round of goodies. I must be part of the game now as I have the uniform.

Haha. Very cool.
One another note, that pre-alpha looks like WaW on release day. LOL

Re: Here's your chance
I know you haven't heard much about it but things are moving along. As the video explains this is multi-national real online play of the demo. This is on PC and still the "pre-alpha" version of the demo but since it's public here's what it looks like so far.
Re: Here's your chance
It's been a long quiet spell but there's plenty going on. It looks like the PS4 is coming up short due to a lack of funding but the closed beta for PC just went live this week. The good news in that is that there is no NDA on the beta so people are streaming it. Search for H-Hour on Twitch and a few streams are available to watch live. There's still no word on when/if it's getting to PS4 but there's still hope.
