Last night was ...

Post by Jessica on Sun Nov 22, 2009 3:47 am

A pretty good night in the end. It seems we don't know the maps well enough yet to be able to use teamwork effectively for hq, as some of us don't have a clue where we are when we spawn etc.

Saying that, we're rather good at domination I think! Very Happy Even when a couple of my friends joined the other side (unfortunately rather good players too) we seemed to hold our own nicely. It feels good to have a run of wins Dancing

I think we should stick to domination for another week or two then try hq again, hopefully we should all know the maps well enough by then.

Also great to have different friends in the team and still pull together and co-ordinate nicely for the domination games. Woot

They were decent games, it's good to have so many people together, except that it puts us into ground war which I ended up in twice last night and both times the lag was horrible. I think Jess is right, that maybe we stick to domination or capture the flag (my new favorite) until we learn the maps better. Then we will have better reference points to help communications. "They are moving from B" works better for me than "They are upstairs in that building." especially when I'm somewhere else on the map and get shot because I'm checking upstairs in the building I'm looking at. Shocked

I have found playing mosh pit a great help with learning the maps. You play all the game types so are finding out where all the flags/hq's/bomb sites are and the best ways of attacking or defending them.

I agree with Shane; Personally, I think one of the best things about Domination is the level of co-ordination it allows a team. We all knew what we were doing.

We had a great start to the night finally getting to round 20 in zombies (just in case anyone missed that.) Then Brock, Stu and I tried some capture the flag, which didn't really seem to go that well for us but I did enjoy getting the chopper gunner. Very Happy Then at Stu's suggestion we did some Domination where we about broke even. Sneaky bastards coming across the roofs... Oh wait I was definitely camping at B on that one map. If they are going to give me an easy hole to hide in I'm using it.

A few new things from last night. First the host migration thing, I believe it happened to us twice. The second time I came back spectating and had to be told I need to select my weapons to get into the game, thanks Stu and Brock. It was kind of fun to see a guy crouched in front of me as we came back, knowing he was the enemy and as he tried to figure out what had happened shooting him. Shocked

Next was after using the Chopper gunner, which was very satisfying btw (I went 16-5,) you do not come back to where you were. I thought I would be and ended up getting shot while trying to figure out what was going on, very disorientating.

And the last thing, while going to mute somebody with a bunch of feedback on his mic in the lobby, I noticed that I also had the option to kick that player. I checked and not all the names had that option. Does anyone know if that's an option for people on your team or was I the host, and is there a vote to kick like some other games have or do they just go?

you do come back to where you were shane unless someone kills you while you in the gunner seat, then you randomly re spawn.

LOL!
Shane you have to make sure you hide a bit better before getting into that Gunners seat!
On a number of occasions I have come across people just standing in the middle of an open space with the lap top open. I hope you hid at least a tiny bit better than those people tho.

I was on top of the garage overlooking the flag on estate. When I called in the gunner I laid down behind one of the boxes on the back side of the roof. When I came back I was on the ground by the same garage looking right at the flag and the runner who was grabbing it. Shocked
