Re: The Medical Thread
Sick bucket 3/4 full, she's managing to keep down water and bread now at least .
Now my main concern is she gets rid of it by the end of the weekend, and I don't get it too

Re: The Medical Thread
The latest bug...
Rosie managed to get a bug while we were away and has kindly passed it around it seems. For those of you due to get this I'll give you a warning of how it goes...
First, you feel like you have a prickly grape in your throat.
Day 1 - you have a sore throat, you cough quite a bit, you need to blow your nose fairly often and seem lethargic.
Day 2 - you 're coughing, very sore nose and throat, ache all over and feel tired.
Day 3 - you feel like total crap, but now your nose looks bright red too.
Day 4 - same as yesterday, still looking like Rudolph as well - you need sleep!
I'll let you know how Day 5 goes when I get to it.
Top tips with this one, get in some Lemsip Max and Night Nurse

Re: The Medical Thread
Rosie kindly gave me the same and except for the red nose it goes pretty much like Jess says.
Re: The Medical Thread
Day 5 - bummer, same as day 4 Not such a red nose now though as I've been using Sudocrem to calm the red stuff down

Day 6 + Day 7 - nose isn't running, but coughing is dreadful. Sinus pain has eased off, but this one seems to be dragging itself out

Re: The Medical Thread
Rosie's done it again, hurt her knee that is. Not at Aikido, not playing hockey, not doing p.e. at school, wait for it.... this is a good one...she did it whilst asleep in her own bed
6 days off school, and 2 dr's appointments scheduled. I hope she gets better for next week, I'm getting pooped running around after her. Lucky I bought her a pair of crutches though

Re: The Medical Thread
Now I'm feeling pretty good that one of my knees is slowly falling apart. All I need to do is put on a brace, again, and keep up with my tablets.
Re: The Medical Thread
Here's a new one. Rosie hurt her knee a couple of weeks ago, doctor thought she'd torn ligaments. She's been on crutches ever since. After doctor wasn't happy it wasn't healing as quickly as he'd hoped she's been for an x-ray at casualty. Turns out she's chipped her knee
Not sure how anyone can chip a bone without any bruise, scratch or mark on them on the outside, unique - that's my girl .
Crutches for about another month it seems, I'm glad I had the forethought to buy some now .

When I asked my doctor what was wrong with me he said "you're you"
I wonder what he meant...

I'm sure it is, Ibuprofen FTW! It never ceases to amaze me how much she can hurt herself, even doing nothing much. I hope she grows out of it, pretty soon we'll have our own parking space at the Dr's and casualty

Re: The Medical Thread
Update on the knee. After another reassessment by a different specialist it seems we're back to the plan A of ideas. He said the last doctor misread her x-ray and she hasn't chipped her knee It's badly torn ligaments on the inside of her knee as originally thought by the first 2 doctors.
Now she has to stay on crutches for another 6 weeks , she has a bandage to keep on her knee and has to take Ibuprofen 3 x a day. We're waiting now to hear about regular physio appointments. Reassessment again in 6 weeks.

Re: The Medical Thread
At long last Rosie has her physio appointment through - for tomorrow. Just over a month after the specialist said she'd need physio asap and about 7 weeks after she injured herself
Fingers crossed she can stop using the crutches and stop taking the tablets now. I think I need to wrap her in bubble wrap often

Amelia has a throat infection. Fuck me she sounds like an old man when she coughs. I wish it was in a big enough form for me to kick the shit out off!!!!

Re: The Medical Thread
Rosie had her physio at last, and now has exercises to do 3 x a day. Also, another appointment in a fortnight, and an appointment with the specialist again after that.
I hope she mends soon, she has a school trip to go on, kind of 'outward bound' style. It's cost enough, and would be a shame if she couldn't make it.

Re: The Medical Thread
Lets see, I've been down and out since last Friday with a bulging disc, which I just found out with a MRI.

Re: The Medical Thread
Hope you manage to get it sorted soon Ryan, it sounds painful.
Rosie was due to have a physio appointment yesterday, but her school phoned me less than an hour before the appointment to inform me the physio had phoned them to cancel. She left a message on my landline at home, but didn't have the common sense to phone me on my mobile at work .
Rosie had no lunch with her, I had no lunch with me, and I had to dash home to find out what the message was. Stupid bloody woman, most thoughtless!
Rosie has another appointment with the specialist at the hospital this morning, it's been 11 weeks since she tore the ligaments in her knee now. She's (mostly) off crutches at last, only used them for emergencies this week so far

I know all about that sort of thing after what i had to go through two years ago now.
Which disc is it? upper, middle or lower back?

Dazz, it is L5, it really starts to hurt the longer that I stand. Sitting can be uncomfortable. Had 5 shots in the back, and now the muscles are starting to relax. Able to do more but standing for limited time, because I can feel it beginning to spasm.

Re: The Medical Thread
Not good Rocker! I know what your going through as Its the same disc as mine so make sure than you do the sensible thing and get as much bed rest as possible to hopeful ease it.
Mine actually ruptured and then crushed the nerves so i couldnt really walk and had excrutiating pain if i stood for more than 10 seconds.
Really feel for ya matey and hope you feel better soon.

Re: The Medical Thread
What he said, and do what the docs tell you to do. It's a good thing live with a nurse to keep you in line.
Re: The Medical Thread
Good luck with it Ryan, I hope you get it sorted so it's pain free soon.
Rosie has been given the all clear by the specialist now, it took 11 weeks and plenty of meds too, a broken ankle would have healed more quickly
Still waiting for one more physio appointment to be sorted though, I'm not holding my breath for that one

Re: The Medical Thread
I've discovered I have the best dentist in the world! I've had quite a few different ones over the years, but none as good as the one I have right now. I had a filling yesterday, and while I was waiting for the 'ouch' as he put the needle in my gum I realised (as he depressed the syringe) it was already in. No pain, no discomfort, and he actually made me laugh during the filling work too , not on purpose of course. Impressed, I'd say so
