Re: The Medical Thread
Good luck with it Ryan, I hope you get it sorted so it's pain free soon.
Rosie has been given the all clear by the specialist now, it took 11 weeks and plenty of meds too, a broken ankle would have healed more quickly
Still waiting for one more physio appointment to be sorted though, I'm not holding my breath for that one

Re: The Medical Thread
I've discovered I have the best dentist in the world! I've had quite a few different ones over the years, but none as good as the one I have right now. I had a filling yesterday, and while I was waiting for the 'ouch' as he put the needle in my gum I realised (as he depressed the syringe) it was already in. No pain, no discomfort, and he actually made me laugh during the filling work too , not on purpose of course. Impressed, I'd say so

Re: The Medical Thread
The bulk of the bad tooth has been fixed now. One more trip next week to finish it up. Worst case would have been removal, which would also involve removing a wisdom tooth and real surgery. It looks like the root canal will be all I need. I will say this.... I was warned 11 years ago that this might happen when I had a filling done on that tooth. Getting away with it for that long really isn't a bad thing.
Re: The Medical Thread
OK, I don't get it. Why are the americans so against 'Obamacare' Surely having a subsidised health care system, and ensuring poor people can be treated too is a good thing.
Our NHS isn't always fantastic, but we really appreciate having it. Paying for healthcare is crackers
If health care was something that should be paid for, the asians have a better ethos, you pay for your doctor to keep you well, if you're ill everything's free. If the USA adopted this I'd understand.
Come on guys, please explain the ridiculous mentality that suggests 'Obamacare' is a bad thing.

Re: The Medical Thread
I can't explain it, sorry. Personally I don't care because work covers my health care. It is really being used as an excuse to create a power struggle in Washington. If it wasn't Obamacare they would have found something else.

It is one party's idea and not the others in a nut shell, then throw in the fact that the President elect is not white is another. And the one opposing party is stuck in its old ways and is slowing dying and sees red everywhere.

Re: The Medical Thread
For the record, and to reinforce my political excuse statement, Obamacare was voted into law a long time ago, it was run by the Supreme court and deemed legal. The people have already had their say, and they said "okay let's do it." This is all politics, nothing at all to do with what average Joe wants.

Re: The Medical Thread
Rosie seems to have an odd bug. She was sick twice yesterday, and I had to collect her from school early. She's feeling a bit under the weather today, but getting better I hope.
Fingers crossed we don't get it too.
Her school do have a great policy of no children returning to school within 48 hours of being physically sick though - nice to know they're keen not to spread bugs around

Re: The Medical Thread
Anyone want a really bad stinking bug? I can jar up a nice breath of cough and post it on FOC
Feeling crappy right now, can't stop coughing and aching like hell. Just hoping the antibiotics kick in soon.
That's it, moan over. I just thought I'd share my misery

Re: The Medical Thread
It would appear I have done something serious to a muscle in my neck, the nerves are bad all the way to my finger tips now. After 3 consults with a doctor I'm on 27 tablets a day, and signed off work next week too. I can't do a thing apart from rest, damn it's so annoying. Being in agony most of the time really is no fun
I might be up for gaming on Friday if it's a lot better, other than that I'll be with you guys when I can, and just when I was starting to enjoy Destiny too!

Re: The Medical Thread
That's not good. I hope they can get you sorted out soon. We know how much you enjoy doing nothing. I've been trying to keep a cold at bay but I'm not sure it's really working. Having to go to work every day probably isn't helping me too much either. Do what the docs say and get your gaming arm back soon.

Re: The Medical Thread
Thanks guys, off work again this week, and supposed to be on 26 painkillers a day now. Not sure if I'll be able to do any gaming Friday, but I really hope I can. Doing nothing is driving me mad

Re: The Medical Thread
Thanks Daz, hope you feel better soon too.
I'm off work again next week, on different tablets, and hopefully less than 26 a day as well. If I could get more than 90 mins sleep in a go I think it'd help. I miss gaming, hoping to be able to get back to it soon. Right now even holding a pen or typing hurts

Re: The Medical Thread
Down to 16 tablets a day now, and getting 4 hrs sleep each night too. Things seem to be improving, but very slowly, or maybe I'm just getting used to the pain . Back to work a week today, so I hope things improve rapidly, can't see it though.
Hope you're all well, I miss gaming on a Friday night, maybe my arm will be up to gaming next Friday, I really do hope so.

Re: The Medical Thread
It isn't fun Shane, now on 20 tablets a day again, and still getting less than 5 hours sleep a night. I have a feeling most (work etc.) think I'm skiving, but I certainly am not. I'd rather not have this pain and work 10 hours a day to be honest

Re: The Medical Thread
Just as my knees seem to be getting better, I got word last night that my dad needs to have both knees replaced or he's going to be in a wheelchair before long. We'll know more in a couple of weeks after they meet with a surgeon but right now it looks like the holidays are going to be spent with him in some form of recovery.

I'm sure your Dad will be fine Shane, my Great Uncle had his hips replaced, he was bouncing around like a kid within a month of the operations! Hope they get them done soon for him so he can enjoy running around again.

Re: The Medical Thread
I talked to my folks last night, and even though he knows he has to do something Dad still isn't liking the idea. He won't admit it but I'm sure he's thinking of his mother who had a knee replacement done 30 something years ago and lost her leg when it didn't work. They've come a long way since then but I'm sure the concern is still there. Worst case is he doesn't do it and ends up in a wheelchair. Best case is he gets it done and can walk normally again but who wants to listen to their kids?
