Any Europeans who were planning a Thursday night gaming session may want to reconsider, as the PlayStation Network will be down for 10 hours tomorrow.
The maintenance will begin at 16:00 and will end around 02:00 GMT. If you sign in before the start of the maintancece, ”then you may be able to still play online.” During the downtime the following will be unavailable:
PlayStation Store on PS3 and PSP.
PlayStation Network Account Management.
PlayStation Network Account Registration.

Sony has enacted the PlayStation Network’s new game sharing rules which lowers the amount of people who can share a game down to just two.
Beginning today, November 18, PSN Licenses can only be used by two PlayStation 3s or PSPs, the policy is in effect for all games purchased after today. Users can choose to deactivate a console if they wish to play it on a different one Sony said.

Re: PSN Maitainence
That makes perfect sense, I didn't realise it was more than 2 anyway
They are in the business of selling games after all, and if everyone shared them there'd be less bought. I'm just amazed they didn't think of this before
Only issue for some will be when buying secondhand games, there's no guarantee the 2 users haven't already been logged I suppose.

Re: PSN Maitainence
I wonder how that works with future second hand games!
I generally don't buy second hand but there is some times the odd occasion I may consider.

Re: PSN Maitainence
You used to be able to share the download content with up to 5 other people and that's what they seem to be talking about here. With the new online codes coming with most games they already have the 2nd hand games taken care of. Buy it used and you need to buy an online code. I used to share a lot of the dlc with the younger clan mates who couldn't afford it.

Then how does it work for renting games????????

Re: PSN Maitainence
System update 4.10 today.
This information was posted on the German PlayStation Blog, which says that the update is hitting “today” (as of February 8th local German time)—depending on the timing of things for us in North America, that could mean anytime within the next day or two.
Here’s what the blog post lists as updates:
An improved internet browser, which improves site rendering and which will now load and run websites (including “interactive” sites) that previously weren’t compatible
You can now have your PS3 automatically set time and date via the internet (versus having to manually tell it to internet sync)
PSN accounts will be renamed Sony Entertainment Network accounts
Now a huge list of new features or updates, but very curious to see how the new web browser turns out. A new browser has been rumored for a long time now, and if it’s a solid update, it could hopefully mean some great things—such as streaming content sites finally being properly usable on the PS3 where they weren’t before.

Re: PSN Maitainence
Posted by Patrick Seybold // Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media PlayStation Network will undergo a significant maintenance period on Thursday, March 1st. Maintenance is expected to start at just after 8:00 am Pacific and will last for several hours, until approximately 10pm Pacific. Unlike typical maintenance events, consumers who are already signed-in to PSN will be signed-out, and consumers will be unable to sign in for the duration of the maintenance window. During this time, users won’t be able to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, Account Management or play online. PSN enabled websites will not be able to service users, including this one. Please stay tuned to the PlayStation Twitter feed for a notice when PSN is fully back online. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
