Posted by Patrick Seybold // Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media PlayStation Network will undergo a significant maintenance period on Thursday, March 1st. Maintenance is expected to start at just after 8:00 am Pacific and will last for several hours, until approximately 10pm Pacific. Unlike typical maintenance events, consumers who are already signed-in to PSN will be signed-out, and consumers will be unable to sign in for the duration of the maintenance window. During this time, users won’t be able to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, Account Management or play online. PSN enabled websites will not be able to service users, including this one. Please stay tuned to the PlayStation Twitter feed for a notice when PSN is fully back online. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

As you may recall, we had postponed our scheduled PlayStation Network maintenance session from last Thursday to a time to be announced. It is now determined that maintenance will take place tomorrow (Sunday, March 4). This significant PSN maintenance period is expected to start at just after noon Pacific and will last for several hours, until approximately 2am Pacific on Monday, March 5. Unlike typical maintenance events, consumers who are already signed-in to PSN will be signed-out, and consumers will be unable to sign in for the duration of the maintenance window. During this time, users won’t be able to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, Account Management or play online. PSN enabled websites will not be able to service users, including this one. source: http://blog.us.playstation.com/category/psn/

Usually they come back online earlier than expected but 14 hours is a long time. Sad As I read that, it's going to be offline until about 1000 tomorrow for you UK folks.

And here we go again....

+ Posted by Matthew Harper // Sr. Manager, PlayStation Digital Platforms

PlayStation Nation!

My name is Matthew Harper, and I’m part of the recently-formed PlayStation Digital Platforms Community Management team. Our mission is to keep you better informed about everything that is going on in the wide world of the PlayStation Network, to make your voice heard within the company, and to ensure that you, the gamer, are at the heart of every development across PSN. Together, we will help guide the future of this platform.

I’m here today to let you know that we will be performing routine scheduled maintenance on the network on Monday, April 16th, starting at approximately 6:00 am PDT / 9:00 am EDT. This maintenance will last roughly 13 hours, concluding around 7:00pm PDT / 10:00 pm EDT. During much of this time, users won’t be able to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, Account Management or play online. PSN enabled websites will not be able to service users, including this one.

We will continue to provide as much information as we can regarding any future maintenance we need to schedule.

Keep your eyes on the PlayStation Twitter feed for a notice when PSN is fully back online. We look forward to gaming with you all when the maintenance is finished on Monday night.

First the maintenance was due to be over by 6pm (UK time) yesterday, then they extended it to 4 or 5pm today Exclamation

Who knows when it'll actually be up and running again Sad

Doesn't seem like regular 'maintenance' to me, something fishy about a 24 hr extension Exclamation

It's been a while so....

"We wanted to take a moment to let everyone know that there is a planned maintenance for PlayStation Network scheduled for Monday, March 4th from 8AM to 7PM Pacific Time (11AM to 10PM Eastern). To clarify, this is an eleven hour maintenance.

If you’ve signed onto PSN over the past few days, you’ll still be able to play online and access apps during this period, but you may receive a maintenance notification when attempting to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, and Account Management as these services will be unavailable. Be sure to sign in now if you wish to access the Network during this maintenance window."

Well it's been a while so I suppose we were due....

In order to continue bringing you the best online games experience on PSN, we will perform routine maintenance beginning the morning of Tuesday, June 25th. This maintenance will start at approximately 9:30AM PT (10:30AM MT / 11:30AM CT / 12:30 PM ET) and will last until around 4:00PM PT (5:00PM MT / 6:00PM CT / 7:00PM ET). During the maintenance period, you may receive a maintenance notification when attempting to access PSN.

Not really maintenance but I think everyone will find this interesting. One of the best features of Plus membership, now available for everyone.

Sony has released firmware update 4.50 for PlayStation 3, which unlocks automatic downloads for all PlayStation Network users.

Once users have installed the update they will be able to utilize the feature that allows the PlayStation 3 to automatically download system software updates, title updates, and purchases. This feature was previously reserved for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

The update also adds new privacy settings for Trophies, allowing users to set which Trophies are visible to others. Finally it allows users to transfer data, such as games and other media, from the PlayStation 3 to PlayStation Vita via a Wi-Fi connection.

It's strange on PS4, on PS3 everything was uploaded or downloaded every day. On PS4 it seems to do it every few days. Things like this update will be there when I sign on but still needs to be installed when I start it up. On the PS3 it would download and install automatically.

There was a whole lot of little behind the scenes stuff added that I saw with the update. One thing I noticed that was kind of nice is that a notification pops up when a friend joins a chat party. It still doesn't tell you when someone signs in or out but they are getting closer.
