It's very helpful but I don't get why I can't play a music CD.

Re: Playstaion 4 News!!!
I was informed last night that the camera part of my pre-order bundle shipped out. The spare controller is due next week and my shiny new PS4 is due some time the following week.
Re: Playstaion 4 News!!!
So now I have the camera and spare controller. I've been informed that my PS4 shipped out of NJ today so I should have it some time the middle of next week or so. Then we begin the joys of setting up a new console.

Depending on which tracking I want to look at, I might have it today but I think it's more likely to be some time next week.
Re: Playstaion 4 News!!!
I had planned on going to the midnight launch to pick up mine, but decided to play some BF4 and get some computer work done so I can have a short Friday. Probably pick it up this afternoon.

Re: Playstaion 4 News!!!
I got mine this afternoon. I should be able to take some time tomorrow to get it set up.
Re: Playstaion 4 News!!!
Well. Turns out I cant find my receipt. No biggie - Gamestop has my order on my Reward Account.
WRONG.
They have no record of me doing the pre-order. Three hours later, Im out my pre-order and $50.

Re: Playstaion 4 News!!!
I'm almost done setting up now. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's pretty much plug and play. I've set up voice and facial recognition. So far the only issues I've run into are with the PSN taking forever to recognize anything or accept anything. Dave had a question about the PS bluetooth headset, no it won't accept it. I tried the old style, the new style, and the one for my phone and though it detects all of them it says they aren't supported. So far the menus are nice simple and clearly laid out. If I ever finish signing into the network, I'll be checking out the store to dl my digital copy of BF4 and see how that goes.... along with entering the code for my $10 credit they threw in the box.
Re: Playstaion 4 News!!!
Well, I did get mine, but it took me forever to get it hook up, came to the realization that I need a new tv in the gaming room . But, I did get it hooked up in the family room, on the big-ass screen tv, and then notice that ps-store was down , and then having remember f-ing passwords and update accounts and downloading updates, and etc. As of right now the only game I've tried is AC4............WOW!!!!!! And, I think that my connections issue is at a resolve, will now for sure when I get some other games loaded. Did I tell you how much you have to download and then hope that ps-store is open and going!!!!!

Re: Playstaion 4 News!!!
They have some serious connection issues. I've finally gotten it up and going. I'm installing BF4 now even though it's only about 5% downloaded. I'm kind of disappointed that none of my bluetooth headsets work but oh well, they gave me one to use for now until I can figure something else out. Now for the really cool thing, I hooked in my Vita and it actually acts as a controller with a mini screen, at least on the menu pages.

Okay so a couple of shots of the set up. First the PS4 with spare controller.
and the TV with the camera set up on top, which has a nice flexible mounting set up that comes included.

Re: Playstaion 4 News!!!
To show off what the camera/controller set up can do there's a little thing called the Playroom included in the package. This is for all the kids out there.... big and small. Warning you may not want to let your kids see this if you've been delaying getting a PS4

Nice. Now my mistake was to let Rosie see the picture, now just 1,000,001 questions to be answered:!:

Re: Playstaion 4 News!!!
The PlayStation 4′s big version 2.0 firmware update—codenamed Masamune—has finally be given an official release date.
That date? October 28th—or next Tuesday for the calendar-deficient members of our readership.
While Xbox One owners have been enjoying monthly updates bringing them smaller selections of fixes and new features, Sony decided instead to focus on larger, less frequent firmware updates for their most recent console (to the disappointment of people such as myself who often lack the ability to be patient).
Here’s a rough idea of some of what we know is coming in Masamune:
Share Play: The ability to play local multiplayer modes with people over the internet by streaming the game, or jump into a friend’s game in order to help them get past something they’re having trouble with.
YouTube: The option to upload captured videos directly to YouTube.
USB Music Player: Play music off a USB memory stick that’s plugged into the PS4.
Themes: Custom user interface themes will be available, along with the ability to change the background color of the PS4’s default theme.
Players You May Know: Get suggestions for new potential PSN friends.
Better Live Broadcasting: An upgraded experience for finding live broadcasts from friends, official Sony streams, specific game streams, and more.
Content Area: Some cleaning up has been done to the main content area, so that now only your 15 most recently used games and apps will be listed, with the rest of your software stored in the Library section (which can be better sorted and filtered now).
Enhanced Voice Commands: Broader voice command support for overall system functions and live broadcasting features.
Add to Library: The ability to add free games offered through PlayStation Plus to your purchased library without having to download the game to do so.

Re: Playstaion 4 News!!!
This update sounds pretty good and I definitely look forward to it. But still I think the one thing they really should add is notifications for when people sign on or off. I really don't understand why they thought it would be a good idea to remove it...

Re: Playstaion 4 News!!!
Glenn, I've heard that because you can have up to 2000 people on your friends list on PS4 (who the hell would want that many?) they felt that many notifications would be distracting to your game play. Like that damn joining party notification is any less distracting, especially when you have someone who seems to join a party every 30 seconds or so.

I see their point but why can't give the players the option and let them decide for themselves? And you're right, who would want (or for that matter, need) 2000 people on their friends list? I have 100-105, something like that, and that is already way more than I actually need...
But their logic doesn't even make any sense with the joining parties notifications. Say you have a full friends list of 2000 people. Yes it would be a lot of notifications. But when a lot of people are online and keep joining parties all the time it will give you just as many, if not more, notifications....
I've lost count of how many times it has told someone joined a party and then literally 5 seconds later a new message that the same person joined a new party. It gets quite annoying. I'm definitely turning off that notification the next time I'm on PS 4. Been meaning to do it but keep forgetting it lol
