I've been looking at it but common sense keeps taking over. I really wouldn't use it that much so why would I get it?? Besides it being all shiny and new and cool.... hmmm

Did you go for the 3G or WiFi only Shane?

Im getting the Wifi Only as i cant see me using the 3G much and dont really want yet another contract. Anyway its the same principal as my iPad as i can always enable my iPhone to become a wifi hotspot if i want to connect the others up to Wifi when out and about.

I only went with the WiFi for the same reasons. As far as I can tell, anywhere I might use it has a network I could hook into if I need to.

Perhaps you could set up a dedicated PS Vita thread where we can put in PSV Game reviews and topics Very Happy

I dont think my free one comes with any games so will have to go and buy some of those but the Unique Uncharted game will be a deffo starting point for me.
What games have you ordered Shane?

I got the Uncharted one to start with and then I'll go from there. I'll work on a new area for this when I get to "work."

I got it unpacked and set up last night and I have to admit, once I got though the set up (wtf was that password?) this thing is very cool. The graphics are very good for a 5" screen and once you get used to the touch screen controls it's pretty cool to use.

Shane i will take any Trophy i can get LOL

Actually at some point they will also show up on your PS3 Trophy list too tho that part is not enabled yet i believe.
Any PSV Trophies you earn will be added to your SEN Trophy rank and % total.

Now that i have mine on order i am desperate to get my hands on it!!! Its going to be a long two week wait.

As I had some time at work yesterday, I did some learning and discovered how to pretty much customize the home screens. The more I play with this thing, the more powerful I can see it is.

Well to my surprise my PS Vita arrived this morning after not expecting it for a couple of weeks!
Need to get this work malarky out of the way now so that i can get home and give it a test drive :-)
Oh and will need to remember to make a stop at the store to pick up a memory card so that i can download some games on to it as well.

Well i have had a little bit of a go now and i have to say i am loving it!

Got all the Tutorial Welcome Trophies and so have downloaded a few Cheap Games to play around with which are A-Men, Mutant Blob Attacks and Plants Vs Zombies. I will comment on them once i have tried them out.
I also bought the Uncharted Game which from the first couple of scenes looks amazing so am looking forward to completing that and grabbing the Platinum at some point.

Have also downloaded 3 free games that use the Code Cards that come with it but not had a chance to try them out yet. Those were Fireworks, Table football and Cliff Diving.

PS Vita Empty Re: PS Vita

Post by DazzaFett Tue Mar 20, 2012 6:25 am

OK so i have had a week of play time now and i have to say i am very impressed with the Vita

Some things i have noticed tho is that the Tech is so advanced on the Vita compared to the PS3 that not everything translates between them as well as they really should.
This is down to the the PS3 tho not the Vita and only a PS3 update will fix it. However i have seen on the Official Playstation forums that Sony do not intend to fix all the issues and some will only be addressed if the community demands it.
For an example The Trophy List on your PS3 does not show your Vita Trophies and this is something Sony do not currently intend to fix.
You can see both Lists on the Vita as it was built this way but not the other way around. I cant imagine it would take much to sort out so dont understand why Sony would not just do it automatically.
Also on the Vita some games show the DLC Trophies as a seperate % which is a great feature and is something i have wanted to be able to see on the PS3 for some time. If you complete the main game to 100% on the Vita you can still see that with all additional DLCs having their own separate % completion stats.

Another small issue is that when you are on the Vita and look at your friends list you can see who is online and what they are playing in the normal way.
However if you are on the PS3 then you are unable to see if any of your Friends are currently playing on the Vita! Hopefully this is something that they will fix at some point as surely the idea of cross platform gaming is that i can play against someone who is on their PS3 while i am on my Vita but if they cant even see me logged in then how can you connect.

I have also noticed that if you recieve a message on the Vita which you read it will still pop up as a new message again on the PS3 again when you log in.

Of course these are all just silly little issues and may eventually get sorted out but i cant help but feel that perhaps some of these things will have to wait until the Ps4 comes out at some point.
They are certainly missing a trick with the Trophies tho.
For example if someone on my FL sees compared Trophies and saw that i have earned loads of Trophies for Uncharted Golden Abyss which had been completely off their Radar as they do not own a Vita, then perhaps it would make them consider buying a Vita at some point.

I play with it pretty much everyday but as I drive to work, I don't use it on my commute. Smile In the rumor mill, the game Dust154, due out some time next year as a cross platform game is also considering using the Vita as the controller for the entire game. That could be interesting.

I wouldnt be surprised if that was to coincide with a PS4 launch!
I am convinced that a lot of the PSV capabilities will be realised when the Next Gen Sony console comes out.
I am nearly done with the Motorstorm RC Platty now. Just got 20 seconds left to shave off my times in total tho thats still pretty tough as there is very little room for error to improve on most of my times now.
I will prob get the 2 DLCs for it tho as its a fun game but i want to also get in to Uncharted as well.
I am not going to buy Unit 13 or Wipeout until i have completed Uncharted tho as i am hoping that by then the prices may have dropped a bit, or i will at least be able to pick up a cheaper 2nd hand copy anyhow.

I also read a rumour that they may release a COD on the Vita but from the info it sounds like it will be a separate release from the main ones so no cross platform gaming on it.

I just saw this, and it's one of the reasons I went with the Vita, but it seems that Skype is now available. I'll check it when I get home.
